Why go with CAPRO?

Pursuing a full-time career in Missions is a major decision which requires that candidates are adequately supported and guided through the entire process from very initial point when a candidate suspects the call of God upon his or her life to the next point of establishing the call, attending the initial candidate assessment to establish suitability. This is followed by the GIFT interview and if successful candidates will need robust guidance and support to communicate and navigate the call through spheres of relationships and engagements including family, friends, local church, employers etc. This is particularly important for the development of critical prayer and financial support structure as the candidate prepare for training. Short-term Missions / Outreaches

Calvary Ministries CAPRO began as a very mobile Short term Outreach ministry with teams of young people drawn from tertiary institutions and older ones from different walks of life but united by the common passion to preach Jesus Christ in uncharted territories.

While still very mobile as at the beginning, we have moved on towards a progression of commitment, from short-term service to long term commitments. We however understand the vital foundation and bridge that Short-term mission helps to build towards future long-term career in missionary service. We continue to mobilise and send Short-term outreach teams to provide a platform individuals that are still on a journey of discovery, and need a little bit more time to prayerfully discern their specific area of calling in Missions.

Our periodic Short-term Mission programme provides opportunity for first-hand practical experience the missionary life among Unreached people groups either a familiar culture or cross-culturally.

Currently our Short-term missions unit offer two broad opportunities:

The operation Joshua short term outreach programme is designed to help committed Christians maximise their annual leave or vacation by visiting a mission field for periods between two weeks to six months.

Students are also encouraged to sign up to join short-term mission outreach teams during their vacations or gap year in the University. Many students have been able to take advantage of the operation Joshua experience to learn, discover, fuel their passion, calling and roles in the global missions enterprise.

Generally, the operation Joshua experience provides opportunity for participants to:

  • Experience the mission field first hand.
  • Meet and make new friends among like-passion team mates
  • Make friends among the unengaged or unreached peoples
  • Visit and work alongside experienced missionaries on the field
  • Encourage the missionaries by share the burden of the work.
  • Bring back first-hand missions information to the Church.

The Christian volunteer service programme is packaged for professionals who desire to serve for a limited period of time in missions. The CVS programme offer opportunity for hands-on´ experience and ministry in one of CAPRO´s support service unit or with field teams in a church – planting environment.

The Christian volunteer service is offered for a fixed minimum term period of one year and maximum of two years. Our experience in cross-cultural missions work for the past forty years, has proven that every profession finds its usefulness in the mission enterprise. Furthermore, the changing terrain of mission frontiers, new challenges and opportunities are now placing increasing demand for more doctors, nurses, pharmacists, engineers, IT professionals, architects, university lecturers, teachers, professional counsellors, electronic media professionals, administrators, secretarial professionals to become involved full time or short term in the missions enterprise.

You can use your professional qualification to contribute something definite to the task of taking the gospel to the “ends of the earth”.
