People Group Advocacy

35 Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. 36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. 38 Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” Matt 9:35-38 NIV

A People Group (PG) is an ethno-linguistic group with a common self-identity that is shared by the various members.

For strategic evangelisation purposes:

“It is the largest group within which the Gospel can spread without encountering barriers of understanding or acceptance”

People groups are categorised into two different types for the purpose of evangelisation:

Unreached People Groups and Unengaged People Groups.

An Unreached People Group (UPG) is a people group among which there is no indigenous community of believing Christians with adequate numbers and resources to evangelize this people group without outside assistance.

… 3.2 billion people or 7,422 distinct ethne (people groups) are “unreached” 42%

Why are they unreached?

No adequate indigenous community of believing Christians able to engage this people group with church planting.

Technically speaking, the percentage of evangelical Christians in this people group is less than 2%.

Outside assistance is necessary to reach the rest of the group with the gospel.

An Unengaged People Group (UUPG) is an unreached ethno-linguistic group (ethne) without any viable gospel witness that can translate to an indigenous community of believing Christians.

… 278 million people or 3,175 unreached people groups are “Unengaged” (Our Priority mission)

Why are they unengaged?

Unreached people groups are unengaged (UUPG) when there is no church planting strategy, consistent with evangelical faith and practice, under way.

Also referred to as Frontier people groups. Unengaged peoples groups have 0.1% or fewer who identify with Jesus in any way.

Placing long-term workers, gathering believers and planting churches are the keys to establishing an effective and multiplying presence among these people groups.

CAPRO along with many other global missions are committed to sending workers to plant virile, contextual, self-reproducing churches among the remaining unengaged unreached people groups of the world. Please join CAPRO and other global missions to accomplish the goal by 2025 ending.

The great commission is Jesus’ mandate to the ‘whole church’ to take the ‘whole gospel’ of the kingdom as a testimony to every nation (ethnolinguistic people groups) of the “whole world” and then the end of the age will come.

The global church has had over 2000 years to complete the assignment, yet the work has remained unfinished despite great effort and commitment of great commission missions and churches globally.

‘Finishing the task’ (FINTASK) is a coalition of great commission individual, churches, missions and Christian organisations committed to mobilising and resourcing the whole church of Jesus Christ in all it’s diversity to fulfil the mandate and complete the task by AD2033 (2000th anniversary of the church receiving the great commission from Jesus).

CAPRO has contributed immensely to the ‘Finishing the Task’ initiative since it’s inception through the searchlight project.

“The spirit of our age would rather sit tight on the ninety nine and forget the single one that is lost. The mind of Jesus is different…”

What will you do for your own generation in saving souls cut off by spiritual and geographical barriers?”

“Why are the unreached still unreached? Because there are not yet enough people prepared to pay the price in groaning prayer, painful giving and self sacrifice. I see so much enthusiasm in armchairs but little in the deserts of Chad. I hear so many strategies propounded from our places of learning but see so few actually going out to Muslims in the Middle East.”

“If Jesus Christ be God and died for me, then no sacrifice can be too great for me to make for Him.”

“Real security can only be found in that which can never be taken from you – your relationship with God.”

“If you think you are too small to be effective, you have never been in bed with a mosquito”

“The greatness of a man´s power is in the measure of his surrender”

“The purpose of all prayer is to find God´s will and to make that will our prayer”

“Do not pray for tasks equal to your powers. Pray for powers equal to your task”

“Do not pray for tasks equal to your powers. Pray for powers equal to your task”

“God never made a promise that was too good to be true”

“Don´t be afraid to take a big step. You can´t cross a chasm in two jumps”

“Faith expects from God what is beyond expectation.”

“A ship in the harbour is safe but that is not what ships are built for.”

“When you have nothing left but God, then for the first time you become aware that God is enough.”

“Statistics show that women outnumber men in global missions, the ratio being 3:1. What are the real men doing these days?”

“Let my heart be broken by the things that break the heart of God”
